Scoliosis is an abnormal curvature of the spine, a disease of the neuromuscular skeletal system, and it is the most common spinal disorder in children and adolescents. We use a very detailed approach to help the spine get re-aligned. Our specific protocols which include mirror image adjustments, traction, and exercises will strengthen and straighten the spine.

With the specialized technique we use at Movement Chiropractic, we know the normal degrees and ranges for the spine. After our initial consult and evaluation (using digital x-rays) we are able to measure specific angles/curves of the spine to better treat problem areas. If we know NORMAL that allows us to determine ABNORMAL.

FOUR TYPES OF SCOLIOSIS

The National Health Service states that 80% of scoliosis has no known cause, or is idiopathic. While the specific cause may not be identifiable, we know that the misalignment of the spine is the problem. There are four types of scoliosis, and they are classified by the patient's age and when the diagnosis took place.

So let's take a look:

  1. Infantile Idiopathic Scoliosis - Present from birth to 3 years of age.

  2. Juvenile Idiopathic Scoliosis - Present from 3 years thru 10 years of age.

  3. Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis - Present from 10 years of age until the growth spurt or puberty is complete.

  4. Adult Idiopathic Scoliosis - This type of scoliosis often starts with a small curve during the teenage years that progressed sometime after skeletal maturity.

I have been to a few different chiropractors in the last 15 years, and it was always the same type of routine. It felt like an assembly line. From the moment I walked in at Movement Chiropractic it was different. Dr. Bryan takes time explaining his approach, and it is not until he has X-rays in hand that he will begin any type of adjustment. Each time I have gone in, it's be en unique. He isn't qjust there to make loud pops and noises. Dr. Bryan is not your run of the mill, assembly line chiropractor. He cares, and it shows! If you're a bit skeptical about chiropractic care, my advices is that you would just go in for a visit. My wife has NEVER allowed anyone to adjust her neck and she trusted him to do if for the first time. That night she was thanking me and telling me how good she felt! Dr. Bryan is awesome, Movement Chiropractic is awesome, and if you go and don't agree with me; I'll personally buy you a dozen Krispy Kreme doughnuts!
